This course explores the fascinating and diverse interactions between Christianity and culture throughout history. The first section of the course analyzes and critiques five general ways Christians have responded to culture since the time of Christ. How the complex relationship between Christianity and culture has played out in a particular church group is addressed in part two of the course, which looks very briefly at the Salvation Army’s experiences in Victorian Britain. Then, in the final portion of the course, attention is focused on how present-day Christianity approaches popular culture.
